The diploma thesis entitled Critical reflection of selected works of Karin Lednická and Jakuba Katalpa in the Czech media deals with the topic of contemporary Czech literature returning to the history of the 20th century. Specifically, it analyzes the critical response to Karin Lednická's novel chronicles Šikmý kostel I-II (Leaning Church I-II) and Jakub Katalpa's novels Němci (Germans) and Zuzanin dech (Zuzana's Breath). The theoretical chapters deal with the concepts of criticism and reflection, the introduction of literary periodicals and selected female authors, the characteristics of the chosen literary phenomenon or the definition of the interview genre. In the practical part, critical reflections of the works Šikmý kostel I-II (Leaning Church I-II), Němci (Germans) and Zuzanin dech (Zuzana's Breath) published in literary periodicals, daily press, online or as radio contributions are analysed. The female authors and their importance for the contemporary Czech literature
KARPÍŠKOVÁ, Aneta
The diploma thesis deals with Czech contemporary female authors who focus on Czech-German relations in the 20th century and are engaged in the German-speaking area. These are Katerina Tuckova, Radka Denemarkova and Jakuba Katalpa. Each of the authors approaches the Czech-German topics with different motivations and brings a new perspective on the issue, as evidenced by a detailed analysis of the novels The Expulsion of Gerta Schnirch, Money from Hitler and The Germans. The aim of the work is to create three distinctive portraits and to name the same and different tendencies of the mentioned authors. Attention is focused on their biography, social activities and opinions, which are necessary for understanding the context.

Mazancová, Hana ; Jiroutová Kynčlová, Tereza (advisor) ; Kalivodová, Eva (referee)
In the diploma thesis Gender Literary Analysis of the novel Němci by Jakuba Katalpa focusing on the motherhood and the parenthood is a gender literary analysis of the novel Němci by the Czech writer Jakuba Katalpa. The thesis focuses on the motherhood, fatherhood, respectively parenthood and how are these phenomenon established within the concrete society: as essentialist, that means biologically, versus the constructivist, therefore socially constructed paradigm. In my thesis I use qualitative interpretative analysis with aspects of discourse analysis and feminist literary theory. Using gender as a analytical cathegory as a methodological category, I try to find and uncover new interpretations and meanings of the book Němci and try to find alternative interpretations of plot and characters. Methodological-theoretical part on the basis of literature introduces the basic terms in use (gender, patriarchy, literary canon, feminism, feminist literary theory), with the help of several writers and authors (Terry Eagleton, Pam Morris, Elaine Showalter). The next part of the thesis pays attention to the concepts of motherhood (Zuzana Kiczková, Sara Ruddick, Elisabeth Badinter, Hana Hašková) and fatherhood (R. W. Connell, Ann Oakley, Elisabeth Badinter). I use the method of so- called resistant reading...
